What To Do and Not to Do After Pest Treatments…

While most people would consider pest infestations being caused by “dirty” surroundings, this is not always the case. Some pests are just a nuisance on their own, and will habitat in your dwelling regardless of how clean it is. That’s not to say that a cleaning your home isn’t ‘good practice’ to keep the pests away, as it surely deters many pests from entering your home, but in light of that, just know that if you have a pest issue, it is not necessarily caused by a root of filth.

Cleaning up after treatments:

After you’ve had a pest treatment, the aftercare always varies. It is VERY important to follow the guidelines that you are given by a pest professional as it is often the case that after some treatments, you are NOT to clean. Yes, you read that right. Cleaning up after a treatment, especially with bed bug, ants, and spider treatments may actually cause the treatment to be ineffective. In some cases, we use treatments that need to remain on things like baseboards, and cupboard spaces so it will be continue to work even after we’re gone.

As a homeowner, I can understand feeling the need to scrub every square of your home, and feeling surrounded, but, I can assure you that cleaning up will only cause the process to take longer. We generally need to make more than one visit to the home depending on the type of pest in order to assure it’s riddance.

As a pest professional, it’s important to assure the homeowner that the steps we take although may be gradual, they are each helping in their own way. Please take this into consideration when you are having any sort of treatments done, and please follow the advice of the professional so we can help you be on your way to a pest free home.
